A MOBILITY equipment company has raised more than £1 ,000 for Willow Wood Hospice in a charity knock out competition. Autumn UK was one of 22 teams to take part in the Ashton hospice annual It’s a Knock Out competition last year. Teams are sponsored to battle it out in an arena full of giant inflatable’s, with the money raised going to the hospice on Mellor Rd.
Autumn UK raised £1,024 in sponsorship in last years contest and presented the cheque to Willow Wood on March 12th.
John Fellowes, head of hospice fundraising, said “if people are game for a laugh, up for anything, fairly fit and raring to go, then this is the event to do”.
“An arena full of giant inflatable’s and an array of characters falling over each other in an attempt to stand up makes people laugh. Seeing team members struggle over large inflatable’s and conquering the skill part of each game is always fun, and all this, at the same time is raising vital funds for the hospice.”
Managing Director, Mark Bushdyhan, said “We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day and we raised loads of money for a local charity, which is really important to us. We have been manufacturing, supplying and installing bathroom adaptation equipment to service the needs of less mobile customers for a number of years, so we know how important the services are that Willow Wood provides. Also as most of our employees come from the Tameside area and have got some personal knowledge of Willow Wood, we were delighted to be asked to participate. We would like to thank our friends, families and loyal customers for their support and digging deep into their pockets to help us to raise this substantial amount of money.”
This years its a knockout event will take place on September 13th at Dukinfield Rugby Club.
